Agency Deployment & Pre-Launch Protocol

The battle-tested 10-step checklist to configure, harden, test, and hand over a WordPress website to a client.

10-Step Standard Protocol Agency Best Practice Saved in Browser

Phase 1: Pre-Launch Configuration

  • Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins and ensure Client Shield is active. In Users → All Users, verify the custom Client Workspace Manager role exists and assign it to your client's account while your agency remains Administrator.

  • In Settings → Dynamic Menu Shield, enable menu shielding for Client Workspace Manager. Check all developer plugins (ACF, CPT UI, WP Rocket, LiteSpeed, Yoast, SMTP, Backup tools) and ensure DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT runtime locks are active.

  • Enable Critical Page Shield. Verify the Homepage and Blog Posts page are automatically locked. Check additional key revenue templates (Cart, Checkout, Contact Us) and enable Lock Page Builder Editing.

  • In Settings → Workspace Cards Manager, configure a tailored welcome headline, embed an onboarding video URL (Loom, YouTube, or Vimeo), and selectively toggle action card visibility per post type.

  • Enable Delegate Form Submissions Access and Allow Form Submissions CSV Export for Client Workspace Manager. Enable WooCommerce sales reports delegation if eCommerce is active.

  • In Settings → Branding, Login & Logout, upload your custom agency or client logo, brand accent color, and custom login message. Configure your support email, portal URL, and custom logout redirect URL.

Phase 2: Quality Assurance & Verification

  • Click "View as Client" in the top WordPress admin bar. Confirm developer menus disappear, protected pages display the Agency Protected badge with no trash actions, the support drawer slides out cleanly, and the simulation alert bar is active.

  • While previewing as client, manually type /wp-admin/plugins.php or /wp-admin/options-general.php in the browser URL bar. Verify you are smoothly intercepted and redirected back to the Workspace with an agency notice.

  • Open an incognito browser window, visit /wp-login.php, and verify custom logo, color scheme, and welcome message. Log in with client credentials, confirm you land directly on the Client Workspace, then log out and verify redirect to your agency domain.

Phase 3: Client Delivery & Onboarding

  • Export the companion Client Handoff Guide (SOP) to PDF, provide client credentials securely, and confirm the client can successfully log in and access their support drawer.

Website Handover Complete! Your client receives a polished, uncrashable administration command center, and your design systems and code remain 100% safeguarded.
